I've been with Holiday Extras since 2014 and I can honestly say no 2 days have been the same since! Everyday is a different adventure with a new learning experience which is why I love working here so much. One of the first things I noticed in my interview was the sign on our CEO Matthew Pack's door which reads "No fun, No point". I knew this is where I had to be.
I started as the Head of Finance for our Distribution business overseeing our finance shared services and planning teams and was promoted to AD of Commercial Finance in January 2018. Working in Finance is a truly unique experience at Holiday Extras. We don't just keep an eye on the numbers. We work arm in arm with the business to deliver on our mission and strategy, ensuring the day-to-day finance operations are seamless for our customers and our partners. Everyone at Holiday Extras lives and breathes our mission...less hassle, more holiday. I'm privileged to work with some very smart, passionate people who aren't afraid to challenge the status quo, innovate and reinvent. I think that's what makes Holiday Extras extra special.
Life before Holiday Extras
Travel is in my blood...literally. My father spent 20 years with the airlines before starting his own travel consultancy firm so I grew up exploring the world. I'm a native New Yorker but have lived all over the US, Europe and Africa - which explains my mish-mash of an accent! Shortly after graduating with BAs in Economics and History and finishing up my accountancy qualification, I took finance roles in banking and insurance in the City. The collapse of 2008 and the aftermath were my trigger to do something different.
Life outside of work
I live in Canterbury with my husband James (Jim) and our 2 energetic labradors who keep us fit. I love history, art and music so Canterbury is the perfect city for me. There's always something to do and a tremendous sense of community. I'm passionate about interior design and have recently tried my hand at furniture restoration. You'll often find me in salvage yards and markets searching for my next project. I'm just as happy in a local cafe with my weekly copy of The New Yorker watching the city go by.
Wow...too many to list and some I haven't discovered yet. I live to travel. I don't believe in going back to the same place twice. My favourite adventure has to be our safari in Tanzania. We spent days driving through the Serengeti and nights camped amongst buffalo and lions. Not much sleep was had but definitely a once in a lifetime experience!
