Family Holiday Insurance
Planning a family holiday means more than just booking flights and packing bags. It's about making sure everyone is protected, too. Family holiday insurance covers parents and children under one easy policy, so there's no need to buy separate cover.
At Holiday Extras, we provide both single-trip and annual policies designed to flex around your plans and budget. Choose from three cover levels, Bronze, Silver or Gold, to suit your needs.
Our policies offer protection against things like medical emergencies and cancellations. Whether you're jetting off somewhere tropical or staying overnight in the UK, having the right cover in place means you can relax and focus on making memories.
What is family travel insurance?
Family travel insurance is a policy that covers the whole family when you travel together - including parents or guardians and their children. It's designed to protect you against unexpected issues like cancellations, medical emergencies, lost luggage or delays. It's a simple and hassle-free way to make sure everyone's covered, without the need for separate policies.
Does a family travel insurance policy cover the whole family?
A family travel insurance policy usually covers you, your partner (or someone you live with in a long-term relationship), and your dependent children. This includes biological, adopted, foster or step-children under 18 who live with you.
You can have a maximum of two adults and two children on a family policy. If you need travel insurance for more people, then you can buy a group policy.
What are the benefits of buying family holiday insurance?
Flexible cover levels - Pick from bronze, silver, or gold policies to suit your trip plans and budget, whether you're going all out, or keeping things simple.
One policy, less hassle - Cover everyone travelling together under a single policy whether you're a family or a group. It's easier to manage, quicker to book, and keeps everything in one place.

Medical support abroad, made easy - Every policy includes free access to AnywhereGP, a virtual medical support service for non-urgent help while you're away.
Extra cover, if you want it - Add-ons are available for things like gadget protection, winter sports, or extreme activities, so you can tailor your policy to your plans.

Travelling as a family with pre-existing medical conditions
A pre-existing medical condition is defined as an illness, injury or condition that exists before, or at the time, you take out an insurance policy. If you have a pre-existing medical condition, this will need to be declared when you book so that we can make sure it's covered whilst you're away. Cheap family travel insurance
The cost of a family travel insurance policy can vary based on many different factors. Age, how long your trip is, your medical history and where you are travelling to can all impact the price of a policy.
Choose a higher excess - Opting to pay a higher excess can lower the price of your policy. Just make sure you are able to pay the excess amount in the event of a claim.
Consider an annual policy - Got lots of trips planned this year? If you're going away multiple times throughout the year, it can work out cheaper to take out an annual policy. This will cover you for every trip you take over the year.
Choose the right level of cover - When choosing your policy, consider whether the cover levels are suitable for you. For example, you may not want to take out a policy that gives you £5,000 cancellation cover per person if you only paid a couple of hundred for your trip.
