Kane Bartlett

Associate Director, Growth

I'm Kane Bartlett, the Associate Director of Growth, UK, which means I help people find, learn about and use Holiday Extras. Being at Holiday Extras has allowed me not only to help grow the business but also help me grow as a person, thanks to the amazing people, experiences and opportunities here.

My journey at Holiday Extras

I started my HX journey back in 2007 when I joined the PPC team after completing my A levels. I had no idea what PPC was at the time, but I loved maths and problem solving, so it seemed to fit the bill. I quickly realised that I had stumbled into something I loved and knew this was the career for me - as well as the company for me as it was clear from the start that HX is amazing. I continued to learn more about PPC and grow my career here. However, in 2010, I had to relocate to Sussex and as remote working wasn't yet a thing, I sadly had to leave. Nevertheless, I always knew I'd come back.

During my time away, I worked for a small travel company in East Croydon before moving to the (then) largest privately-owned media agency in the UK, Forward3D. There, I worked with businesses like Icelolly, Debenhams and Hertz, to name a few. The focus on data analysis and modelling there really helped to further develop my skills. After this, I went to work at John Lewis, leading all their paid online marketing. It was an incredible learning experience, particularly around Black Friday and Christmas. The huge, multi-channel, high-pressure, highly-timed campaigns were incredible to work on. After two years there, I decided to move back to Kent and reached out to Holiday Extras.

Thankfully, there was a role available and I jumped at the chance to come home. Back where I belonged, I helped to make our paid channels more profitable, led our email campaigns and began to develop our online brand presence alongside some amazing people.

Now, as the Associate Director of Growth, UK, my responsibilities are essentially twofold: driving new customer acquisition and making our wonderful repeat customers feel as loved as possible so they come back time and time again. A huge part of this is working collaboratively across multiple teams to tell everyone who Holiday Extras are, what we stand for and why we are different from our competitors (we really are!). I also work to make it as easy as possible for people to find us, talk to us and make their trip extraordinary - ideally using the latest tech and AI to help!

Outside my 'normal' job, I love bringing the business together in fun ways; whether that's through supporting our internal TV programme (AKA HXTV), building and running games for the team (see photo below from HX's version of Taskmaster), or a myriad of other things - I feel lucky and privileged to be able to make a difference here.

I love my job and I love Holiday Extras. I feel fortunate to work here and to help shape the business. There are so many amazingly talented, wonderful people, so it's always great to come into the office every morning.

Home away from HX home

Away from work, I love spending time with my family; I have a 7-year-old daughter, Chloe and a 5-year-old stepson, Louis, so they take up a lot of my time, as well as my incredible partner, Laura (who also takes up a lot of my time…).

Outside of them, I like running (although I don't do it as much as I should), eating good food and travelling. Whenever I'm travelling, I find running around a city is a great way to see it, as well as scouting out restaurants to revisit later! I love technology and am always looking to understand what's new, what's next and how we can use it in our marketing plans.

My favourite places so far are New York, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Amsterdam and Barcelona. My to-visit list includes Iceland, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Australia and Canada…the list is never-ending.
