Getting to Stansted Airport
By Train: The train station at Stansted is located beneath the main airport building so when you arrive by train you'll only have to worry about a 2-3 minute walk to the terminal. The Stansted station is linked by rail to all major destinations across the UK.
By Car: London Stansted is located just off the M11, use Junction 8a if you're approaching from the London side or Junction 8 if you're coming from the Cambridge way. The Postcode to use for your sat nav is CM24 1RW and don't forget to book your Stansted Airport Parking in advance to save time and money at the airport.
Drop-off: You can drop passengers off at the Express Set Down area which is just a few minutes away from check-in. The cost of this is £7 for up to 15 minutes parking or £25 if you are there over 15 minutes. Your car must not be left unattended at this time. You can also drop-off or pick-up passengers at the Short Stay car park for a charge or the Mid Stay. The charges for these options are below:

By Bus: The Stansted Airport bus stati9on is just a 2-minute walk from the terminal and boasts waiting facilities, an onsite coffee shop, newsagents, payphones and toilets. There are frequent buses and coaches running to stops all around London. You can also book coaches from major UK cities, although these may not be direct to the airport.

Stansted airport recommends you arrive at the terminal at least two hours prior to your flight's scheduled departure time. This should give you enough time to drop your bags and pass through security, remember to check-in online if you can.

The Ryanair Bag Drop desks open two hours before your scheduled departure time and close 40 minutes before your flight time. Ryanair recommends you arrive at your boarding gate at least 30 minutes before your flight.

You can check-in online and print your boarding pass from 30 days and up to 2 hours before the scheduled departures of your flight. There is only one terminal building at Stansted and you will find the easyJet Bag Drop in Zone C.

As with many airlines, TUI allows online check-in for all flights. You can print your boarding passes at home, simply drop any luggage at one of their Bag Drops and Check-in Desks up to 2 hours before your flight, and make your way through to the departure gate.

However, you may need to brush up on your Turkish when using the website to ensure you jet-off without a hitch. Alternatively, you can check-in three hours prior to scheduled departure. Online check-in with Aurigny is available to passengers with or without hold luggage and is open 72 hours before departure. Aurigny's Bag Drop is Zone E and opens 2 hours 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Don't forget - Photographic ID is required despite travelling within the British Isles. Passengers who do not have a suitable ID will not be permitted to travel.
Stansted Airport Check-in
There's only one terminal at Stansted, and the check-in area is on the ground floor. Look for your flight number on the information screens near the entrance to see which desk you need.
Your airline or your ticket will be able to tell you your check-in time for definite, but as a guide Stansted airport recommends that you check in 2 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. Don't forget with most airlines you can check-in online days before your flight for a smoother Stansted experience.
Many airlines - including easyJet, Ryanair, airberlin, Aurigny and Pegasus - now allow you to check in online, though some restrict this option to passengers with no hold baggage. If you check in online, make sure you print your boarding card, as some airlines will charge you to have it printed at the airport.
Baggage allowance at Stansted Airport
You should contact your airline to find out your allowance for both hold and hand baggage. Most airlines flying from Stansted only allow one item of hand luggage, which will be screened before you get onto the plane.
