Gran Canaria

The Canary Islands

As the most southern Spanish territory, the Canary Islands boast seven of the most picturesque islands that are scattered like turquoise jewels in the Atlantic off the coast of Morocco. If you're sick of drizzly October weather and are after seeking some winter sun, Tenerife or Gran Canaria are your best bet for a warm getaway. You've booked your hotel, bought your suncream, now's the time to add that bit of security to your holiday.

Rather than bombard you with a million different policies, we like to keep things hassle-free for you, three levels of cover:

Teide National Park is dominated by a towering volcano and is famous for its unusual rock formations and crater views. If you are not an avid walker, don't worry, there is a cable car service which runs to the summit, so anyone can visit the highest peak in Spain.

There are no necessary injections to visit Gran Canaria, although to protect yourself further, you should ensure that you are vaccinated against hepatitis A and B and rabies, along with your routine vaccinations. Even though you do not need vaccinations, you should still ensure that you have comprehensive travel insurance to cover pre-existing conditions.

Which Canary Island is the best to visit?

If you enjoy the nightlife and beaches of the Canary Islands, then visiting Tenerife or Gran Canaria is for you. However, if you would like a more natural and less crowded destination, La Palma, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura may be for you. Is it safe to go to the Canary Islands?

The Canary Islands are extremely safe, although, as with the rest of Europe, you should be aware of pick-pocketers and other petty crime.
