These cliffs are an Instagram favourite worthy of their name and are best viewed at sunrise or sundown. They are 500-800 metres tall and overlook the turquoise waters of Tenerife.

On La Palma, the viewpoint of La Cumbrecita viewpoint can often be shrouded in a vast cloud formation locals have named the 'sea of clouds'. Seeing this is a magical and breathtaking experience that everyone should have on their bucket list.

4. Delve into Jameros Del Agua

The caves of Jameros Del Aguaare spectacular lava formations that are 6 kilometres long. These formations have created underground tunnels for the brave to explore, and are home to some unusual wildlife such as the albino crab.

5. See the animals at Loro Park

Popular with tourists and families, Loro Park is home to a vast array of animals and birds. However, their focus is on conservation. Whether you'd like to walk underneath sharks or explore a bat cave, you will be able to get an up close and personal experience with many of the animals.

Do you need injections to go to Gran Canaria?

There are no necessary injections to visit Gran Canaria, although to protect yourself further, you should ensure that you are vaccinated against hepatitis A and B and rabies, along with your routine vaccinations. Even though you do not need vaccinations, you should still ensure that you have comprehensive travel insurance to cover pre-existing conditions.

Which Canary Island is the best to visit?

If you enjoy the nightlife and beaches of the Canary Islands, then visiting Tenerife or Gran Canaria is for you. However, if you would like a more natural and less crowded destination, La Palma, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura may be for you. These have more unspoilt landscapes, unusual natural features and Fuerteventura even boasts magnificent sand dunes.

Is it safe to go to the Canary Islands?

The Canary Islands are extremely safe, although, as with the rest of Europe, you should be aware of pick-pocketers and other petty crime. We would advise you to be cautious and use common sense in unfamiliar situations while abroad. However, the fact that the Canary Islands are separate from the mainland potentially reduces this risk.
