Booking long stay insurance

If you're planning a trip months in advance, or are staying at your destination for a long time, you may want to consider booking holiday insurance for your trip. Additionally, if you're booking potentially hazardous activities to keep you occupied during your long stay trip, we can adapt your policy accordingly.

Choose your own long stay cover policy from Holiday Extras

Holiday Extras offers four levels of travel insurance cover, as follows:

Top tips for long stay trips

  • Plan well ahead - There's nothing worse than embarking on a long stay trip and then realising you've forgotten something important.
  • Do your research - Preparing an itinerary, and using maps to get to know the area, allows you to get stuck in straight away, and can help you to avoid making basic errors.
  • Consult your GP - It's important to learn of any pre-existing medical conditions in advance, and to declare these to your travel insurance provider. You should also arrange necessary vaccinations well ahead of your trip, to give them time to take effect.
  • Contact your mobile provider and bank - If you need to make calls or withdraw more money abroad, you could find your accounts suspended if you do not give prior notice to your providers.
