You can get a quote in a couple of minutes online but if you'd prefer to talk to someone our number is 0333 038 9635. Our team are on-hand Mon–Fri 9am to 8pm, Sat-Sun 9am to 5pm. Calls to 03 numbers cost the same as calls to standard UK landlines (01 or 02). That means: From landlines, around 2p-10p per minute - often included in your call package. From mobiles: around 10p–40p per minute, usually included in your bundled minutes too. So in most cases, if you've got inclusive minutes, there's nothing extra to pay.

Cancellation and curtailment
Cancellation cover protects you against unexpected events that may prevent you from going on your holiday. If unforeseen circumstances arise and you need to cancel before your trip starts, cancellation insurance can help by reimbursing the costs of non-refundable travel and accommodation.
The level of cover you choose should reflect the cost of your holiday per traveller. This includes expenses such as flights, airport transfers, accommodation, and pre-paid excursions. We offer cover that provides up to £5,000 for your share of any pre-paid expenses that can't be refunded or transferred.
Curtailment insurance, on the other hand, applies if you have to cut your trip short due to unforeseen events while you're away. This type of cover ensures you're reimbursed for any unused portions of your holiday, giving you peace of mind during your travels.
Personal accident cover
What is Personal Accident Cover?
Personal accident cover, also known as personal liability cover, offers protection if you are injured, disabled, or killed due to an accident during your holiday.
Claims can also be made for further treatment or lost income resulting from the accident, however, the accident must not be related to an undeclared pre-existing medical condition.
What Does Personal Accident Insurance Cover?
Injury, Disability, or Death: You are covered for accidents on holiday that lead to serious injuries, loss of sight or limbs, or fatalities.
Extended Cover Post-Holiday: Claims can be made in the UK within 12 months of your trip if the injury or disablement results directly from the holiday accident.
Additional Treatment or Lost Income: Further medical treatment or inability to work due to the accident may also be covered.
Exclusions: You cannot claim if the injury results from:
Sports or activities not included in your policy.
Activities without personal liability, accidental death, or disability cover.
Certain high-risk activities may not be covered due to their nature. Always review your policy to ensure your activities are included.
Missed departure
Missed Departure Travel Insurance Summary
Missing a flight or connection can be a stressful experience, especially when it's caused by factors outside your control. With our missed departure cover, you can claim up to £1,000 if you miss your departure or connection for any of the following reasons:
Your pre-booked public transport (flight, train, bus, or boat) is delayed, cancelled, or disrupted due to extreme weather or a strike.
Your car breaks down or you're involved in an accident on the way to the airport, causing you to miss your departure.
Making a Claim: To make a successful claim, you will need to provide evidence to support your case.
Examples of Supporting Evidence:
Photographs: Capture proof of road accidents, weather conditions, or public transport delays.
Eye-Witness Testimonies: Collect contact details and statements from witnesses.
Documentation: Retain tickets, itineraries, receipts, and confirmation of the delay or incident.
Obtaining Delay Verification:
Public Transport Delays: Check the transport provider's website for a delay verification form or email their customer service. Provide details such as the date, time, and reason for the delay, along with relevant links or reports.
Road Incidents: Contact the Department of Transport, Highway Agency, or breakdown service involved for official confirmation.
By having the right evidence and following these steps, you can make a strong claim for missed departure or missed connection compensation. This ensures you're not left out of pocket if unexpected delays disrupt your travel plans.
Repatriation
Repatriation insurance helps cover the cost of getting you back to the UK if you have a medical emergency while travelling. This is usually included under the 'Emergency Medical Expenses' section of good travel insurance policies.
As you can imagine, repatriation back to the UK can be extremely costly, so it's really important to check how much cover your policy offers, as this can vary.
Here is a breakdown of what is covered under medical emergency and repatriation:
Medical practitioners' fees
Hospital expenses
In-patient and out-patient medical treatment
Medical Transportation
Medical escort
Repatriation travel costs
At Holiday Extras, repatriation is included in our medical emergency cover. Our Bronze and Silver policies cover up to £10 million, and our Gold policies offer unlimited cover. We also provide tailored cover for people with pre-existing medical conditions, so everyone can travel with peace of mind. While cheaper policies might look good, they may not offer enough cover for unexpected costs. Always check what's included to stay protected.

Let us answer your questions
What does travel insurance cover?
Travel insurance protects you financially from certain unexpected events that could happen while you're away. For example, lost baggage, holiday cancellation or emergency medical expenses. For more details on what's covered, take a look at our cover-level page .
How far in advance should I buy travel insurance?
Aim to purchase insurance as soon as you can after booking your trip. This means that you will be protected if you have to cancel your holiday unexpectedly before your trip.
Can I get travel insurance if I have a medical condition?
We don't think having a medical condition should make getting travel insurance difficult. That's why we consider all medical conditions.
Our expert team are on hand to guide you through the quote process with absolute confidentiality and care. This will help us to determine if we're able to provide you with cover.
How can I get cheaper travel insurance?
The cost of travel insurance can be influenced by a variety of different factors. Your age, how long your trip is, your medical history and where you are travelling to can all impact the price of a policy. Depending on these things, you could be considered a higher risk meaning the price of your policy may be higher. Here are some of our tips to try and keep the cost down:
Choose a higher excess - Opting to pay a higher excess can lower the price of your policy. Just make sure you are able to pay the excess amount in the event of a claim.
Consider a Annual policy - Got lots of trips planned this year? If you're going away multiple times throughout the year, it can work out cheaper to take out an Annual policy. This will cover you for every trip you take over the year.
Choose the right level of cover - When choosing your policy, consider whether the cover levels are suitable for you. For example, you may not want to take out a policy that gives you £5,000 cancellation cover if you only paid a couple of hundred for your trip.
Why choose Holiday Extras?
With 40 years experience selling holiday insurance and over half a million policies sold in a single year, it's safe to say we know a thing or two about travel insurance. That's why we've won Globe's Best Insurance Provider 16 years running.
Our team of insurance experts are here to help you through the booking process and assist with any queries you may have. Whilst you're away, you'll have access to 24/7 medical assistance, 365 days a year.
