How to get around Benidorm

Benidorm is a beautiful part of Spain with plenty to see and do in the resort as well as in the surrounding towns. From beach to waterpark to mountains, you can fit a lot of travelling into your holiday. At Holiday Extras, we want to help you figure out how to get around Benidorm, so we've put together some ideas. Buses

The most cost-effective way to explore Benidorm is by bus. You can buy a Bonobus 20 card and top it up when you need it. This will get you to the Old Town, new town, beaches and out to Aqualandia. A single fare is €1.20-€1.50 within the resort and €2.65-€3.75 to get you further afield. There are also open-top double decker buses running tourist routes to all the main points of interest. This costs €9.50-€29.50 for 24-hour, 7-day tickets.

Taxis

Benidorm is served by a number of local taxi firms, with one of the best-known being Radio Taxi. It's best to stick with licensed cabs to prevent any pitfalls. There's generally a fixed minimum fare – usually about €4 during the day and €5 at night. A taxi to Aqualandia is about €6-€7, to Terra Natura is about €12-€13 and to Albir beach is about €10-€11.

Trams

The trenet (little train) station is at the top of Avenida Beniardá and the line runs north to Dénia in one direction as well as south to Alicante and its surrounds. Although it's currently a train line, work is being done to switch to a more eco-friendly tram system. Journeys to Alicante leave every 30 minutes, with the trip taking 75 minutes, and a return ticket costs €5.65.

Car hire

Car hire in Benidorm is the best way to get freedom to go wherever you want. There are plenty of places to book when you arrive or websites to browse before you go. Don't forget to brush up on the local traffic laws – and remember to drive on the correct side of the road!
