Driving to Belfast City airport

Sat right next to the A2 Sydenham Bypass, Belfast City airport is reassuringly easy to get to by car. From anywhere in Northern Ireland you’ll be able to work out a straightforward route. We’ve outlined the trip from several of the major cities below:

Omagh and the west – Take the A5, turning left onto the A4 when you reach it. As it merges with the M1, you’ll start to see signs for Belfast. Continue onto the A12, then take the exit onto the M3 in the direction of the airport. You’ll be signposted onto the A2 and the rest of the way there.
Londonderry – Set out on the A6, staying on it as it becomes the M22 (where you’ll already start seeing signs for the airport) and then the M2. Carry on as you merge onto the M3 and then the A2, continuing to follow signs for the terminal.
Armagh – Head north on the A3, turning onto the M12 when directed. It’ll merge into the M1 and then the A12. When you get to the M3, take the route towards the airport and follow the A2 to your destination.

A single terminal at the airport means never having to worry if you’ve gone to the right one. The airport’s postcode is BT3 9JH - put it in the sat nav before setting off to make sure you’re on track.

Belfast City airport: parking

Give yourself enough time to get to the airport, sort out your car parking ticket (or insert a credit/debit card at the barrier) and make your way to the terminal if you need to. The Short-Stay car park at the airport is also the official drop-off and pick-up area, which is nice and handy. Your first ten minutes in the car park are free, and then you'll be charged £3.50 for a full 60 minutes.

Public transport from Belfast City airport

With bus, coach and rail links, as well as a dedicated taxi bay outside, Belfast City airport has all of the public transport connections you’ll need. Bus and coach links run until late, and there’ll always be a taxi on hand if you’ve arrived on a red-eye.

On leaving the arrivals hall, you’ll have the following public transport options:

Train. A free shuttle bus service runs between the airport and the nearby Sydenham rail station. Ask at the information desk in arrivals to be directed to the bus stop. The station is on the line between Belfast and Bangor, with stops at Portadown and Newry.
Bus and coach. There are frequent bus services from the airport into Belfast city centre, as well as several daily coaches. An example fare to the city centre with the Airport Express 600 will cost £2.20 single.*
Taxi. The airport has its own taxi rank and only allows approved taxis to line up. Wheelchair-friendly taxis are available on request. To get to Belfast city centre, the fare will be roughly £10.*
