Data sources & methodology
Overall rank is determined by summing each country's position across eight independent indices. A lower sum = a better overall ranking. Where a country was not included in an index, the set average for that index was used: LGBTQI+ 109, Press Freedom 91, Democracy 85, Human Freedom 86, Animal Welfare 6, Quality of Life 80, Sustainability 85 (average of two sustainability indices).
