The destinations we love would be nothing without the people who live there and the environment they live in. By reducing our impact on the places we visit, and by helping everyone make sustainable choices when they go on holiday, we can continue to enjoy the diversity of our planet without threatening its future.

When we go on holiday, we want to leave only footprints, so we can return time and time again.

Empowering our customers to make more sustainable choices

We're speaking to all our suppliers to understand what they're doing to reduce their own impact, which means we'll be able to show a sustainability rating against every product so you can easily make a sustainable choice. Starting with hotels, we have created an online survey for our suppliers to complete with a list of meaningful questions around sustainability. We can then use the information provided to share each hotel's sustainability credentials and inspire our customers to make greener choices.

We highlight all of our airport car parks and hotels that have electric vehicle charging available – just look for the green symbol when you search. You'll also find more information on our electric vehicle page.

With helpful information and engaging content, we want to support you to increase your positive impact and reduce your negative impact when you're away. For example, one of the burdens of tourism is the additional waste generated by an increase of single use plastic while you're on holiday. Most of which is either sent to landfill or ends up in the ocean. We want to help solve this problem and are on a mission to help our customers reduce their consumption of single use plastic.

The Good Trip Index

Choosing to travel well is hard – there's a lot to think about. But it's worth a little extra effort to travel responsibly. The Good Trip Index is our guide to travelling ethically, sustainably and well.

We asked UK holidaymakers what's important to them when deciding where to go, and came up with seven themes:

Our index is one simple list for you to use when picking a destination, so you can check before you set off that you'll really have a good trip – without having to trawl through dozens of different sources.

What is a B Corp?

Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by B Lab that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. They believe our most challenging problems can't be solved by governments and non-profits alone. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps commit to positively impact all stakeholders – workers, communities, customers, and our planet.

We've reviewed ourselves against the B Impact assessment and are working towards achieving an accredited score by 2024 which is currently 80.

The Travel Foundation

Everyone loves to travel – that's probably why you're here. But travel and tourism don't come without an impact on the destination and the people who live there. So we joined forces with the Travel Foundation to help promote sustainable travel, and make sure we can continue visiting the places we love.

We believe in making simple choices to improve the way we travel, finding solutions that benefit the environment and reducing our negative impact on a destination.

The Travel Foundation has worked in 27 countries, bringing new opportunities and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. Since teaming up with us in 2012 our generous customers have donated more than £350,000, supporting projects all over the world.

But now we want to up our game. The climate emergency isn't going away on its own, so we need to take action now. That's why we've committed to raising 500k for the Travel Foundation in just one year. We know that travel isn't the best thing for the environment, so it's important for us to work towards a sustainable future for tourism, one that puts the environment first.
