Facts about the UK

Made up of four countries in total – England, Northern Island, Scotland and Wales – the UK is a mix of many cultures from all over the world, making it greater than the sum of its parts in many ways. That's all without even mentioning the Channel Islands which offer sunny pockets of fun away from the British mainland.

There's so much history as well – from the 5,000-year-old neolithic ruins of Skara Brae on the Orkney islands, to the remains of Hadrian's wall which once defended Roman-occupied England from the raiders of northern Britain.

Then there's the more recent history of the Royal family, which you can see as far north as Balmoral in Scotland, or at Sandringham in Norfolk. Not forgetting Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle either.
