How Expensive is it to Travel in Palma?

Palma has a lot to offer, from its buzzing city centre to the historic Old Town. Getting around couldn't be easier and there's something for everyone. By bus

Buses are the low-cost choice for getting around Palma. Look out for local bus company, EMT, and the one that services the rest of the island – TIB. A single fare ranges from €1.50 for the urban zone to €5 if you're going further afield. You can also hop on a City Sightseeing tourist bus to see the cathedral, the promenade and marina and Bellver Castle. Tickets for this last 24 hours and cost €21 for adults and €10 for children and over 65s.

By scooter

The people of Palma love their scooters, and the area is dotted with routes to follow. Hire one to enjoy sunset coastal rides with the sea breeze in your hair, before stopping for dinner with a view. There are lots of rental places across the island and you can hire anything from 125cc Piaggios and Vespas to Harley-Davidsons. Prices generally start at around €35 per day.

By bike

A cycle along the coast to keep active during your holiday – or just to explore the cafés and ice cream parlours – is a lovely way to pass an afternoon in Palma. Bike rental is affordable, and there are numerous places to hire from. Basic options begin at around €6 a day or €36 a week (including a helmet, lock, basket, lights and map), while mountain bikes can cost around €16 per day / €96 per week, and e-bikes €18 per day / €108 per week.

By train

Palma is connected to its neighbouring towns and villages via a small train service. The landscape is stunning, so a leisurely journey to sightsee outside of Palma is a great idea. There are three main lines as well as two metro lines in the city, which all start and end at Palma Estació Intermodal in Plaça d'Espanya. There are four different price zones, with singles costing €1.60-€4.10 and returns are €3.20-€8.20. Children under four years old travel for free.
