How Expensive Is It To Travel In Krakow?

If this is your first time travelling to Kraków, you're probably interested to know much money you'll need to enjoy your stay. If that's the case, we've put together some essential information to help you budget for your Polish getaway.

As far as airport transfer services are concerned, when you pre-book our Krakow airport transfers, it won't cost you the earth. You'll enjoy peace of mind when you arrive, too.

Car hire

You will, of course, have the option to rent a vehicle during your Kraków stay. There are plenty of places in the city to do so but be aware that the centre of Kraków can get very congested. Parking spaces are limited, too, and you'll be very lucky indeed if you don't have to pay for the privilege. What's more, much of the Old Town is pedestrianised.

Hiring a cab in the city is cheaper than it is in the UK. For example, a five-mile journey is likely to set you back about £5, whereas in, say, Birmingham, the same trip could cost you as much as £16.

Public transport

Other than walking, the most cost-effective way to get around Kraków is by using its well-developed public transport system. The city is divided into two zones: Strefa I, which covers the whole of the city, and Strefa I+II Aglomeracja, which enables travel outside the city boundaries.

Prices vary, of course. When travelling in Strefa I, you can expect to pay the equivalent of about 58p for a 20-minute journey and £1.25 for a one-hour trip. Season tickets are available, too. A 24-hour ticket costs about £3.00, while a seven-day card is priced at about £10.00. Single and return Strefa I+II Aglomeracja tickets, meanwhile, cost the same as their Strefa I counterparts. Strefa I+II Aglomeracja season tickets, on the other hand, are more expensive but still reasonably priced.

Tickets can be used for both the city's bus and tram services and can be purchased at most of the larger stops, and within the vehicles themselves.

Please note that all quoted prices are correct at the time of writing.

Wherever you decide to go for your next holiday, don't forget to take advantage of our affordable airport transfers.
