WTM to launch eco-initiatives
The organisers of the World Travel Market (WTM) have announced that a number of environmental initiatives will be launched at the event this year.
Taking place in London between November 12th and 15th, the WTM will focus on methods of reducing waste and energy and the potential of reusable products.
The organisers said that the developments are intended to start a trend of making the WTM more environmentally friendly.
Fiona Jeffery, chairman of the WTM, said: "Like so many in our industry, there is much more we can do to reduce man's footprint - and World Travel Market is no exception."
She added: "We have to raise our hands above the parapet and take up the challenges rather than just talk about them. That is what we are doing and we hope that our exhibitors and visitors will join with us in this mammoth but vital task."
The WTM organisers claim that the green initiatives are part of its ongoing focus on 'responsible tourism', a concept that will be recognised during the event this year on November 14th.
