Fliers 'prefer Comfort On Long-haul Services'
Most long-haul passengers consider comfort one of the most important parts of taking a long-haul flight and are willing to pay for it, the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) has claimed.
According to a spokesperson for the group, most passengers value the possibility of having a relaxing journey if they are flying over a sustained period of time.
The comments were made as Air Asia X is beginning to offer cheaper fares to long-haul destinations around the world.
The Abta representative said: "There are pretty good rates available for flights to Asia with existing airlines. It is one area that most travellers feel they would like a bit of comfort in.
"There is a lot to be said for not feeling cramped and desperately uncomfortable when you are in a plane for ten hours and a lot of travellers feel that they would pay that little bit extra."
However she went on to stress that low-cost alternatives will always have a good chance of accessing the market owing to demand from student travellers and people on gap years.
