How to pick a good hostel in Alicante

Travelling abroad can sometimes be an expensive pursuit but if you're canny enough, it's possible to book flights and accommodation that won't cost the earth. At Holiday Extras, we like to play our part, with our inexpensive airport transfers.

A suitable location

First things first: make sure your hostel of choice is accessible, particularly if you intend to get around on foot. Out-of-town digs might represent good value for money but if you have to spend much of your time using public transport to get to and fro, it's probably not such a good idea.

Don't go too cheap

Many travellers choose to stay in hostels because they are a cost-effective alternative to hotels. That said, it's not always best to choose the cheapest hostel. By paying just a little bit more, you can ensure that your Alicante stay is clean and comfortable – and will provide with just enough mod cons to make your holiday one to remember for all the right reasons.

Safe and secure

Does the hostel have a locker? Most do but don't assume as much – it's better to enjoy peace of mind knowing that you have somewhere to put your valuables.

Complimentary Wi-Fi?

Does your hostel provide free access to the internet? Make sure that you check beforehand because there are quite a few hostels around the globe that still charge for this service.

Common ground

It's always a good thing if a hostel provides a space for patrons to chill, chat and get to know their fellow travellers. And if this common room features a bar, all the better.

Full tummy, happy heart

It's often said that the first meal of the day is the most important so make sure to check that your hostel provides breakfast. This will ensure that you don't start each day with pangs of hunger, searching for somewhere to eat.

Turn up, tune in, check out

You're on holiday to unwind, which means that you can probably do without the pressure of early check outs, particularly if you've spent the previous evening drinking and dancing.

Research for the win

When choosing your hostel, it's always a good idea to learn as much as possible about it. Read as many reviews as you can to get a feel for the establishment and the people who work there. And don't forget to make use our Alicante Airport transfers, which will get you to your hostel with the minimum of fuss.
