How Expensive is it to travel in Majorca?
Majorca is a fascinating island with so much to see and do that you'll absolutely want to take in as much as you can. You might be wondering: how expensive is it to travel in Majorca? Luckily, we've done some research and your answer is below. The first things to bear in mind are your airport transfers. At Holiday Extras, choose a private car or a shared shuttle bus – taking your budget into consideration – to get from the airport to your accommodation.
By bus
Travelling in and between Majorca's cities is cheapest by bus. A single fare costs roughly €1.50 (or ten tickets are €10) in the urban zones and for night buses (plus bring your dog on board for just €0.30!). You can buy a Bonobus card which you top up when you need to and you'll save between 30% and 50% on tickets.
By tram
There's a two-route public tram system throughout the island and taking it means you can see Majorca's beautiful landscape whizz past your window. Fares are around €4 and you'll probably board in Palma. Palma to Inca takes around 35 minutes, Palma to Sa Pobla takes about 56 minutes and Palma to Manacor is about 67 minutes.
By car
Hiring a car is a good way to see Majorca at your own pace. There are lots of car hire companies across the island depending on what sort of vehicle you need. Some pre-booked online deals can be as cheap as €10 or less, but same-day hires range from around €40-€70 per day.
By bike
Cycling is popular in Majorca, due to the island's kilometres of coastal paths and there are plenty of bikes routes to follow. Because of the number of cyclists around, there are lots of places to hire from, with pretty good deals. A standard city bike will set you back about €10-€15 per day, while a higher-range road bike costs around €20-€30.
Excursions
Take an excursion with a guided tour group to see more of the island and learn about its history. Prices vary depending on what you want to do: a catamaran trip along the coast can be around €50, one taking in the best of Majorca starts at €65, while guided walking tours of major cities like Palma are around €20.
