Does Gatwick Airport have pod parking?

No, Gatwick does not have dedicated 'pod parking'. Instead, Gatwick Airport offers a range of alternative parking options including:

  • Short Stay Parking - Perfect for just a quick visit, with super convenient access (located close to terminals).
  • Long Stay Parking - With free shuttle transfers to and from the airport.
  • Premium Parking - Premium parking offers parking spaces closest to the terminals.
  • Meet and Greet Parking or Valet Parking - Ultra-convenient, simply leave your car with a professional driver at the terminal, and have it brought back to you upon your return.
  • Park and Ride - Typically a cheaper option for longer stays. These services are available at car parks located slightly further from the terminals and include regular shuttle transfers.

But, 'POD parking' is available at Gatwick?

Yes, 'POD parking' is available at Gatwick Airport but, unlike the futuristic pod-style parking experience, this describes parking areas equipped with electric vehicle (EV) charging stations provided by POD Point. There's no need to pre-book as they operate on a first-come first-serve basis. You can check out live availability on the POD Point Open Charge website. Once you arrive at the charging point, just follow these 3 simple steps:

  1. Download the POD Point Open Charge app and register for a free account (only takes a few seconds).
  2. Drive up, take your parking ticket and plug your vehicle in to one of the charging points. These PODs are located in Car Park 3, Level 1 in the South Terminal and Car Park 5, Level 3 in the North Terminal.
  3. Use the Open Charge app, or EVMap, to find the correct charging point and confirm your charge within 15 minutes of having plugged your car in. This is available on both iPhone and Android.

Alternatives for electric car charging at Gatwick:

  • Short Stay Parking - You can charge your electric car in the Short Stay car park. There are eight 22kW charging points in the North and South Terminal Short Stay car parks. In the North Terminal, these are located in Car Park 5, Level 3 and Car Park 3, Level 1 in the South Terminal.
  • Valet Airport Parking (with electric vehicle charging) - EV charging can be booked for a small fee when you book Official Valet Parking at either terminal at Gatwick. This provides a two hour charge duration on Type 2 (22kW) fast chargers, delivering up to 44kWh. This must be pre-booked.
  • APH Park and Ride Electric Charge - Offering affordable rates, plus EVC charging included. If you book Gatwick airport parking through Holiday Extras, you can enjoy a great deal such as APH Park and Ride with EV charging included.
