Top 10 Tips For The Perfect Family Holiday in Tenerife

Planning a family holiday can be stressful, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun. After all, there's loads to see and do in Tenerife. Luckily, as well as airport transfers, we know a thing or two about holiday planning. Here are our top 10 tips for the perfect family holiday in Tenerife.

Choose your dates wisely

While you might be tempted to travel to Tenerife in the height of summer, remember temperatures can reach highs of 25?C in July and August. For more kid-friendly weather, try April-May or September-October.

Organisation is key

Don't forget to pack:

  • Passports
  • Toothbrushes
  • Sun lotions
  • PJs

Pick fun accommodation

For quality time as a family, choose a rented villa for a home from home. Adventurous kids will love spending time outdoors, so one of Tenerife's campsites would be good for them too.

Explore the beaches

Tenerife is dusted with beaches that are suitable for children, including Playa de Fañabé for accessibility and Playa de Las Teresitas which has breakwaters that create safe pool-like areas for maximum paddling.

Try new food

There are plenty of spots catering for families (some of which do great deals on British food). However, some fast food-style joints – like El Cine – could persuade your kids to give seafood a go. Octopus or squid, anyone?

Take in a little culture

Museums might not be number one on your children's to-do list, but there's lots to keep them entertained in Tenerife. Go for Museo Militar where they can coo over uniforms and guns, or the Museum of Science and the Cosmos for interactive exhibits and planetarium sessions.

.

Do something different

On holiday is a good time to experiment with new experiences. Plenty of places throughout Tenerife offer exciting things to do. Try kayaking with Sports Club Tenerife or deep-sea fishing with Punta Umbría V. Alternatively, you can dolphin watch or whale spot with White Tenerife and Eden Eden.

Remember to relax

No matter how thrilling a family holiday in Tenerife can get, remember that it is a holiday after all. Not every day has to be packed with activities and events. Tenerife has more than enough cafés or bars to grab a cold drink and simply people watch and enjoy the weather.
