Tips For Single Travellers Over 60

If you are over 60 and thinking about visiting Costa Adeje on your own, fear not – you'll have a great time! There are some things worth bearing in mind before you set off, however. And while you make your holiday arrangements, please don't hesitate to take advantage of our Costa Adeje Airport Transfers.

Medical matters

You won't need any vaccinations for a visit to the Canary Islands. That said, it's a good idea to make an appointment to see your GP four-to-six weeks before heading off, especially if you are taking any medication.

Do some research

Before you decide on your ideal Costa Adeje accommodation, be sure to read as many reviews as you can. It's the best way to get a good feeling about a hotel or apartment that interests you.

Don't pay more than necessary

Many travel operators charge a single supplement. Check before booking your accommodation to see if this is the case.

Free Wi-Fi?

It's becoming more common for holiday establishments to offer complimentary internet access but don't take it for granted. Again, check ahead of time to make sure.

Emergency numbers

A quick internet search will provide you with up-to-date contact numbers for Tenerife's emergency services, the local hospital and a 24-hour medical helpline. You probably won't need them but it's always a good idea to hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.

Keep people informed

It's also a good idea to leave an inventory of your holiday with close friends or family. It needn't be terribly detailed. It should just provide general information about your whereabouts at any given time, just in case of an emergency. Of course, you can always update people about your activities in real time via Facebook, Twitter and the like.

Safe and secure

It's obvious, really, but if you keep your wits about you, you will stand the best possible chance of enjoying your holiday without any mishaps. Remember to keep valuables where you can see them (and ideally out of view of other people). Make use of a locker or safe for anything you don't need to have on you. And be sure not to find yourself alone in an unfamiliar part of the island after dark.

Don't forget that if you pre-book our airport transfers, you'll have one less thing to think about.
