Sex and the city that never sleeps

With the film that every woman has been waiting for premiering in London this Monday, there's no better time to plan a trip to New York.

Against the iconic backdrop of Manhattan, the television series Sex and the City followed the friendships, relationships and careers of four fabulous women intent on living life to the full.

The long awaited film will catch up with Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte four years after the much-missed series ended. And women around the world will want to grab a piece of Manhattan action for themselves.

The Sex and the City Hotspots guided bus tour runs every day, showing fans over 40 locations from the series including Carrie's apartment, the gallery where Charlotte worked and a bakery where Miranda stuffed cupcakes into her mouth.

If that's not your style, New York is full of the streets the girls stomped in their Manolos, the bars where they sipped cocktails, the stores where they bought their hip clothes and the restaurants where they sat and gossiped.

And with the current dollar-sterling exchange rate, British visitors will be able to bag Barneys bargains galore.

For the perfect SATC break, Holidaylettings.co.uk advertise Manhattan apartments to rent direct from the owners. They have properties ranging from Carrie-style East Village apartments to Samantha-style Meatpacking district designer penthouses.

Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and KLM all fly to New York from the UK.

Sex and the City goes on general release in the UK on 28 May. The television series starred Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis and ran for six series between 1998 and 2004. The show became cult viewing and changed the attitudes of a generation of women. Men also secretly loved it.
