Traffic disruptions at Luton airport
Upcoming disruptions to traffic at Luton Airport
From 24th to 26th May 2024 there are road closures and traffic restrictions affecting roads from Junction 10 of the M1 because of Radio 1's Big Weekend Music Festival in a park next to the airport.
On Monday 27th May Luton Carnival will disrupt traffic in and around the town, including to and from the airport.
From Monday 3rd June to Monday 2nd December, Newlands Road will be closed as part of the Glencar Development. Some journeys to and from the airport, and some journeys to Luton airport car parks, will be diverted.
|f you are travelling to or from Luton airport on any of these dates we strongly advise that you allow yourself extra time for your journey.
Big Weekend, Fri May 24th to Sunday May 26th
From 24th to 26th May 2024 there are road closures and traffic restrictions affecting roads from Junction 10 of the M1. While Junction 10 is not closed, it is likely to experience disruptions as traffic for the music festival will be exiting the motorway here.
If you have a booking with us for car parking or a hotel with parking at the airport between these dates you will have received messages from us confirming our recommended directions while the festival is going on.
The shuttle buses from our car parks to the airport will be running normally and should not be significantly disrupted by the traffic changes.
Luton Carnival, Mon May 27th
Luton Carnival on Monday May 27th is expected to disrupt traffic in Luton and arounf the airport. Please allow extra time for your journey and check that the route you planned to take will be available.
Closure of Newlands Road, Monday June 3rd to Monday December 2nd
From 3rd June 2024 to 2nd December 2024 Newlands Road in Luton will be closed as part of a large industrial development project (see "Glencar development" link below). Holiday Extras customers with parking bookings at Luton Airparks, as well as some customers with hotel and parking bookings, will need to use the local diversion put in place to avoid the road closure.
If you have a booking with us for car parking or a hotel with parking at the airport between these dates which is affected by the road closure, you will have received messages from us confirming our recommended directions to avoid the disruption.
