Sample the sunshine state from Edinburgh Airport
From June 2010, flyglobespan will begin operating the first ever flight route between Edinburgh Airport and the sunshine state of Florida.
Prices for flights between Edinburgh and Orlando Sanford begin from only £200 per person. Rick Green, chief executive officer at flyglobespan, said: "We are very excited about launching this route. It will give our customers from Edinburgh and the east of Scotland a direct link, for the very first time, to one of the world's top holiday destinations.
"And, as is to be expected from flyglobespan, our flights and holidays to Florida will deliver the highest quality at great prices."
Gordon Dewar, managing director of Edinburgh Airport, added: "There has been substantial demand for a direct air link between Edinburgh and Florida, both from holidaymakers and from the many Scots who now live in the sunshine state. That is why the news of our first ever direct scheduled flights to Florida is so welcome and I have no doubt the new service will prove a big hit.
"Even during the economic downturn, we are working hard to expand the range of destinations that can be served direct from the Scottish capital. This announcement from flyglobespan is yet further evidence of that hard work paying off and shows the strength of the Edinburgh market."
