London Heathrow Airport improves punctuality

According to research published by the Civil Aviation Authority, London Heathrow Airport has recorded a 14% increase in punctuality.

The research, published in full at www.caa.co.uk/punctuality, shows that the UK's busiest airport improved punctuality between the months of April and June, reducing the average delay time by eight minutes from 18 to 10.

Mike Brown, chief operating officer at London Heathrow Airport, said: "We are working very hard to make every passenger's journey to or from Heathrow better than the last one, and these figures demonstrate that we are making good progress. However, the challenge is continuously to raise standards and through our long-term investment strategy, which sees £1 billion spent on facilities and services every year, we are rebuilding an airport of which the UK can be rightly proud."

The Civil Aviation Authority's punctuality statistics measure both the arriving and departing flights. On average, London Heathrow Airport handles 180,000 passengers and 1,350 flights daily.
