Cardiff Airport Extension

Cardiff International Airport is planning a £100m extension, anticipating passenger numbers to increase by 400% to around 8 million by 2030. The 24 year plan will include a multi-storey car park as well as an extension to the airport building.

Cardiff Airport managing director Jon Horne is hoping to enjoy the same level of success Bristol airport has experienced recently. Mr. Horne said "judicious use of public transport with intelligently developed road and rail access will also minimise the effects on our surroundings."

The key aspirations at Cardiff Airport are said to be the development of routes to Germany, Italy and Scandinavia.

The plans have been drawn up over the last year and are intended to be presented to the Department for Transport after a series of public meetings are held.
