Qantas premium economy goes on sale

Qantas has commenced sales of its new premium economy class offering.

Australian national airline Qantas has begun selling its new premium economy class seats.

Spaces in the airline's premium economy cabin will be available on certain select services, including connections from Sydney to London via Singapore from April 1st 2008.

Premium economy passengers will also be able to fly from Sydney to Johannesburg from the beginning of April and from Sydney to Hong Kong from August 3rd.

The airline's new class option offers 19.5-inch wide seats, an 8.4-inch in-arm video monitor and ergonomic cushioning with adjustable headrests.

Qantas executive general manager John Borghetti said: "Our service will also include priority check-in, dedicated cabin crew, an additional hand baggage allowance and priority boarding and disembarkation.

"Qantas will offer 32 premium economy seats on its B747-400 aircraft in a two-four-two configuration and the product will also be available on select B747-400 services to the US from late 2008."

Mr Borghetti also said that the Airbus A380, which will be delivered to the airline in August 2008, will feature 32 premium economy seats in every aircraft.
