Get set for the London Marathon 2009

April 24, 2009

Sunday, April 26 sees the annual London Marathon hit the streets of the capital for the 28th consecutive year, attracting thousands of plucky entrants and an international viewership in the millions.

The spectacular event is one of the nation's most popular in the sporting calendar, with the drama that unfolds across the gruelling 26.2-mile circuit providing entertainment for viewers, if not for the competitors themselves!

The 2009 event will see runners set out from Blackheath and embark on a trail that will take them past a number of renowned landmarks in the city: the Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge, Parliament Square and Big Ben among them.

This year will also see the Children's Trust benefit from the event. Funds are crucial to the Trust's survival and enable it to provide the care, education and therapy so desperately required by those children with complex health needs.

If you're heading to the capital for the marathon, take advantage of our Best Price Guarantee on airport hotels or make a weekend of it and book a theatre break with Show & Stay including a night in a central London hotel and tickets to a West End show.
