Joint initiative 'to boost Iberian tourism'

A new initiative to jointly promote Spain and Portugal is expected to have a positive effect on the region's tourism industry.

The number of people visiting the Iberian peninsula is set to receive a boost next year with the launch of a new website jointly promoting Spain and Portugal.

PortugalSpainBoth.com is the result of cooperating between the tourism offices of the two Iberian nations, designed to provide a mutual benefit to their travel industries.

The site will act as a source of information for people considering holidays in the region and is hoped to encourage travellers to visit both Spain and Portugal in the course of one trip.

Javier Pinanes, director of the Tourist Office of Spain, said: "This new site provides a truly engaging experience and is a major step in how we market the two destinations to the world."

Mr Pinanes said he was "delighted" with the launch of the site and underlined the value of a single resource allowing people to learn about the countries that share the Iberian peninsula.

The website offers a guide to the things to see and do in Portugal and Spain, including the art and cultural scenes, wine and cuisine.
