Lufthansa was voted Europe's leading business class airline at the 2007 World Travel Awards.

Some 167,000 travel professionals submit votes for the awards, which were presented at a ceremony in Newcastle on October 9th.

A number of innovations were made to the Lufthansa business class product last year.

Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa's general manager for UK and Ireland, said: "This award proves that Lufthansa's investment in our new business class product on European routes has been successful in meeting the needs of the business traveller.

"The World Travel Awards are highly regarded and coveted as they are unique, with the votes cast globally by travel professionals across the globe."

A new centre console was installed in Lufthansa's business class seat bays last year, which replaced the middle seat and provides more privacy and an additional workspace for customers.
