Midlands gets more ski links

Low-cost carrier easyJet will begin to offer flights from Birmingham International Airport.

The airline announced that it will start flying from the Midlands hub on December 14th, with flights to Geneva. This service will operate on a daily basis.

A week later, on December 22nd, easyJet will add a twice-weekly service between Birmingham and Grenoble.

The expansion means that Birmingham International Airport will become the 13th UK airport that easyJet operates from and the 79th in Europe.

"easyJet's expansion from Birmingham International Airport is great news for skiers from the Midlands, giving them more choice and a brand new service to Grenoble," explained David Osborne, the airline's UK regional general manager.

"With the daily service to Geneva and twice weekly flight to Grenoble they now have the opportunity to fly to the major ski gateways for the French and Swiss Alps."

Peter Vella, business development director at Birmingham International Airport, added: "We look forward to working with easyJet to make these routes a success and we hope this is the start of a growing presence at Birmingham."

Elsewhere, easyJet also said that it will also add a route from Bournemouth International Airport to Grenoble this winter.
