York named Tourism City of the Year
Northern low-cost carrier Jet2.com has celebrated the fact that it offers nearly 30 routes to York, the European Tourism City of the Year.
Indeed, the airline currently operates 28 routes to York's nearest airport, Leeds Bradford Airport, making it the perfect airline for people wanting to explore the historic city.
Late last week, York beat competition from rivals across the continent to be named European Tourism City of the Year.
"We'd like to take this opportunity to pass on our congratulations to the city of York following this prestigious accolade and to join with them in celebrating another win for the Yorkshire region," said Rachel Land, inbound sales and marketing manager at Jet2.com.
"Our team have spent the past four years promoting all that the region of Yorkshire has to offer and York is certainly a favourite with our overseas passengers. We are also very proud to be the airline offering the most services to York's local airport, Leeds Bradford."
Recently, Jet2.com's website was recognised as the most popular site out of any northern retailer by IMRG-Hitwise.
Philip Meeson, the boss of Jet2.com, commented: "Our website is extremely popular with customers; it is after all home to our lowest fares.
"These figures are proof of how we are not only retaining existing passengers but successfully winning scores of converts to our award-winning combination of low-cost fares and unbeatable service."
