New Flight to Knock

A new Ryanair service from Nottingham East Midlands to Ireland West airport, Knock, will commence on February 27th 2007. The service will run four times a week - every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday - and is already enjoying high sales. The new service will compliment Ryanair's existing daily scheduled flights from London Luton and Stansted to Knock.

The new service is expected to bring around 60,000 additional passengers through Knock each year. The area is most famous for it's Catholic shrine, which draws in half a million pilgrims every year. The village itself is tiny, with a population of just 440, but Knock still makes a pretty spot to start exploring Ireland from. Bus Eireann offers buses between Knock and major towns and cities including Westport, Castlebar, Athlone, Dublin, Sligo, Ballina, Galway and Cork. There are also two train stations in the region, Claremorris (19miles) or Ballyhaunis (14miles), where you can connect to other towns and cities.
