Montreal celebrates John and Yoko
May 22, 2009
May 26, 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the second iconic 'bed-in' of John Lennon and Yoko Ono at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal. To celebrate the momentous date, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has recreated the scene in a unique exhibition.
For one week in 1969, Lennon and Ono promoted world peace at the hotel, famously recording the anthem 'Give Peace a Chance'. Visitors to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts can now step back and witness a recreation of the scene.
Exhibiting 140 pieces of memorabilia and organised in collaboration with Yoko Ono herself, the 'Imagine: The Peace Ballad of John & Yoko' exhibition features the hand-written lyrics of the song itself, the reel-to-reel tape on which it was recorded and Lennon's Gibson guitar.
Admission to the exhibition is free and provides Beatles and Lennon fans the opportunity to witness some unique collections. For further information on the exhibition, visit www.tourisme-montreal.org.
