Fresh snow piles up at Canadian ski resort

The Canadian ski resort of Marmot Basin in Alberta is reporting 60 cm of fresh powder over the past two days, with snow falls continuing.

There are already 53 runs open, with skiers and snowboarders enjoying the new Canadian Rockies Express high speed quad chairlift to traverse the slopes. The lift is 1.5 miles long and ascends almost 2,000 vertical feet in just 7.5 minutes.

The bumper start to the season signals the first time that the hill, situated in Jasper National Park, has had 100 cm of settled now mid-mountain during November.

Another storm is expected in Marmot Basin soon, so UK snow lovers may want to take advantage of favourable rates for North American resorts this season and start planning a cheeky winter getaway. Packyourskis.com can offer a range of winter sports holidays in the Marmot Basin area.
