Ashes victory secures low airfares

England's comprehensive victory in the second Test at Lord's not only boosts the nation's hopes of reclaiming the Ashes, but also enables a number of lucky travellers to head down under for the great low price of just £215 per person.

British Airways and Qantas teamed up to offer fares to Australia based on the amount of runs scored by the tourists in their first innings, with the number of seats available at the price determined by the number of runs scored by the hosts. Accordingly, 425 seats to Sydney will be available for £215 per person - a reduction of £730 off the standard fare.

Simon Brooks, consumer sales manager for British Airways, said: "Andrew Strauss and the England cricket team have done us proud, and as a result we're offering this once in a lifetime promotion to fly to the other side of the world for £215."

The flights go on sale from 10am on Tuesday, July 21 at ba.com or from 8am at qantas.com. Full terms and condition apply and can be found on each airlines' website.
