Stansted starts Athens flights

Two new flights begin from Stansted airport this week – Aegean Airlines’ twice daily service to Athens, and Lithuanian Airlines twice weekly service to Vilnius.

Flights to Athens depart Stansted airport at 10.20 and 20.00 and business class passengers will benefit from airport lounge and fast track facilities at Stansted.

“The twice daily link to Athens will not only offer business and leisure passengers a direct connection to the world renowned Greek capital, but also offers passengers the opportunity to connect directly onto Aegean Airlines domestic network that now serves around 17 destinations across Greece,” comments Stansted airport’s strategy and solutions director, Nick Barton.

The new flights to Vilnius, 2009 European Capital of Culture, depart from Stansted airport on Friday and Sundays at 08.15.

“Vilnius is one of the largest financial centres of the Baltic States and with its current status as 2009 European Capital of Culture, and reputation as being one of the most hospitable cities to visit, the Lithuanian capital is set to become an extremely popular link from here,” says Barton.

Low fares airline Ryanair will launch new flights from Stansted airport to Bezier in France and the chic coastal resort of Rimini in Italy in June.

Ryanair has already started a number of new routes from Stansted this year. The budget airline began flights to Genoa, Poitiers, Almeria, Rodez and Zadar in March, and then in April followed this up with new flights to Faro, Pula and Angouleme.
