New flights to Pakistan from Leeds Bradford airport
For the first time passengers will be able to fly from Leeds Bradford airport directly to Islamabad in Pakistan thanks to a new service from Shaheen Air International.
The twice weekly service from Leeds Bradford airport to Islamabad will start on 7 February, with fares from £460 including taxes. Shaheen Air International is the Second National Carrier of Pakistan, operating 15 domestic and international routes. The new long haul flights from Leeds Bradford will be on a wide bodied Airbus A310 with 19 business class seats and 191 economy seats.
The new flights are sure to be welcomed by the large Pakistani community living in Leeds, Bradford and surrounding areas. “It is a matter of immense pleasure and pride that Shaheen Air International shall be servicing the Pakistani community living in Leeds, Bradford and its catchment areas, at their doorstep. I am sure that Pakistanis living in and around Yorkshire will strongly support the new service and thus encourage us to add more frequencies from Leeds Bradford,” says Shaheen Air International chairman, Kahlid M Sehbai.
Chief executive at Leeds Bradford International Airport, John Parkin, adds: “For the first time in LBIA’s history the people of Yorkshire will be able to fly direct to Pakistan from their local airport. Whether it’s for business or pleasure we are sure that this service will be extremely popular, and we also look forward to welcoming passengers from Pakistan to Yorkshire”.
Passengers looking for flights to Pakistan have until now had little choice but to fly with Pakistan International Airlines. Pakistan’s flag carrier operates flights to Islamabad from Birmingham airport, Heathrow, Stansted and Manchester airport. The only other airline currently offering flights to Pakistan is British Airways, which flies from Heathrow to Islamabad.
Pakistan International Airlines also operates flights from Glasgow airport to Lahore, Heathrow to Karachi and Lahore, Stansted to Karachi, and Manchester airport to Karachi and Lahore.
