BA offers New York tips for Valentines

[February 6th 2009]

British Airways has come up with Valentine's Day ideas for New York and London on its new travel guide website.

On Valentine's Day the airline will be giving thousands of Valentine's cards to passengers flying between London and New York. The cards feature a list of tips on where to go and what to do in London and New York as recommended by the new BA website metrotwin.com.

The website aims to offer the best of London and New York for anyone planning a city break or a longer holiday. Recommendations on what's hot in London and New York come from a network of experts, bloggers and online communities including Not For Tourists, Visit London, Mr & Mrs Smith and ItchyLondon.

Suggestions featured on the Valentine cards include the Cupid is Stupid party at the Town Tavern in New York. The event is aimed at singles looking to find that special someone and includes drink specials, free manicures and tarot card readings so you can find out what fate has in store for you.

For a romantic view on Valentine's Day, metrotwin.com recommends visiting the Top of the Rock in Rockefeller Plaza at sunset. Heavenly food in trendy settings is said to be available at the celebrity studded Balthazar. The Four Seasons on East 57th Street is described as stylish, elegant and sure to impress.

BA has 12 daily flights to New York, with fares starting from £329.

If you fancy a special Valentine's Day closer to home a city break in London may appeal. According to metrotwin.com, "London for lovers has much to offer". The Rookery Hotel in Clerkenwell is recommended for the romantic open fires in its bedrooms and is popular with celebrities. For a romantic meal the website suggests the "seductive" La Bodeguita del Medio in Kensington Court, with a "steak to die for and London's best mojitos".

For singles in London on Valentine's Day the recommendation is the Club Azuli Global Guide party at Pacha in Victoria with DJs Martijn Ten Velden and James Talk. Anyone looking for more culture might want to try The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square with its fine displays of works by Van Gogh and Da Vinci.
