Australia 'dream destination of 2007'
Australia has been named the 'dream destination' of the year at the 2007 World Travel Awards.
The World Travel Awards ceremony was held in London on November 15th and named Australia the 'dream destination' of 2007.
Australia was one of many international locations to be recognised at the ceremony, with Spain's Costa Blanca taking the honour for favourite beach holiday location and Val d'Isere in France named Europe's top spot for skiing.
Barcelona is the travel market's favourite destination for a city break, according to the 2007 awards, while Cornwall is the number one holiday destination in the UK.
Virgin did particularly well at this year's event, with Virgin Holidays taking the tour operator of the year award and Virgin Atlantic named the airline of the year.
Other overall winners included Nottingham East Midlands airport, which took the top airport award, and Thomas Cook in the travel agency category.
The World Travel Awards also recognised tourist boards around the world, with offices in Spain, Dubai, Hong Kong, Barbados, Florida and Egypt named the best in their respective regions.
