Ryanair adds 2 new routes from Cork
Low-fares airline Ryanair has confirmed a pair of new routes from its hub in Cork to East Midlands and Glasgow.
The new services, which bring the number of destinations served by Ryanair from Cork to six, will begin on December 13th and operate on a daily basis.
Peter Sherrard, head of communications for the carrier, said it was "delighted" to announce the new services.
He added: "This expansion will see Ryanair carry over one million passengers on its six routes from Cork in 2008, supporting 1,000 local jobs and generating a visitor spend of 150 million [£104.7 million]."
Kevin Cullinane, marketing manager for Cork airport, described the announcement as "fantastic news" for the region.
The hub currently operates services to a number of destinations across Europe, including Paris, Munich, Rome, Prague and Krakow.
