McGregor completes epic journey
After completing a trip of a lifetime, actor Ewan McGregor immediately set off on another holiday.
The Star Wars actor, along with pal Charley Boorman, completed their epic motorbike journey from Scotland to South Africa earlier this week, arriving in Cape Town after over three months on the road.
During their trip, the pair visited over 20 nations in Africa and saw what the continent had to offer travellers and holidaymakers.
They travelled through popular tourist destinations - like Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi - as well as more remote places like Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
At the end of their journey, the Moulin Rouge star said that the trip had revealed another side to Africa, one often ignored by the media.
He explained: "The Long Way Down has been an amazing journey and it has been a real privilege to be able to experience these diverse and beautiful places.
"We've had the opportunity to see such different ways of life to ours and have travelled to remote places very few people have access to. The sense of freedom and exploration has been incredible."
The journey was filmed and the show will be broadcast by the BBC later this year. The no doubt fascinating show could encourage more people to consider Africa as a holiday location.
After finishing the trip, McGregor revealed that he was in need of another holiday and jetted off to meet his family "somewhere in Africa".
