Film destinations discounted

Alternative Airlines has launched a sale on flights to destinations made famous by successful moves.

Passengers booking before July 15th will be able to get heavily discounted tickets on flights to destinations like Mexico City (as appears in Mel Gibson's Apocalypto), Mumbai (which is the setting for Monsoon Weddings) and Khartoum (also the name of a Charlton Heston and Laurence Olivier film).

The company's managing director, John Pope, explained: "These are just some of the exotic destinations available through the www.alternativeairlines.com.

"For this particular price promotion, we've chosen ones which provide the location for some of our favourite films.

"Using our lowest ever fares we can offer you the chance to visit personally some of the greatest natural film sets on the planet."

Some of the discounts available from the company could be worth up to £250 and allow people to fly from Manchester to Bridgetown Barbados from £312 return.

Recently, Sean Tipton, a spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents, explained that people often wanted to visit countries featured in successful films.

"Every time we have a big blockbuster, or a very successful movie, there is always a rather large boost to the countries concerned," he added.
