Liverpool - New York route launched

Beatles widow Yoko Ono was on hand last Friday (May 25th) to launch a new low-cost service between Liverpool's John Lennon Airport and New York.

Ms Ono - who was married to John Lennon until his death in 1980 - joined invited guests and airport management at Liverpool's airport to celebrate the first ever Flyglobespan flight between to the two cities.

"As you all know, John had a tremendous fondness for both of these cities. He would have been delighted that there is now a direct flight between these two historic cities," Ms Ono said.

Flyglobespan's chairman, Tom Dalrymple, also welcomed the new connection, saying: "I am immensely proud that Flyglobespan is linking two such exciting cities.

"I am very pleased that we are able to offer such competitive fares on our daily scheduled JFK route allowing the people of Liverpool to enjoy one of the world's most exciting and dynamic cities flying from their local airport."

The airline will build up to offering a daily service between the two cities by the end of June.
