Manchester airport directions
Manchester airport is about 20 minutes drive south of Manchester city centre, located just off junction 6 of the M56.
From the north: The M66, M61 and M62 all run to the M60 which circles Manchester City. From the M60, exit at junction 4 onto the M56 sign-posted Manchester airport. Exit the M56 at Junction 6 and follow the signs to your terminal or car park.
From the south: The quickest route is via the M6 to junction 20 and then on to the M56 towards Manchester City. Manchester airport is well sign-posted from here. Leave the M56 at junction 6 and follow the signs to your terminal or car park.
From the west: From the Liverpool or Chester direction, you can travel on the M62 until Junction 10 where it connects with the M6. Continue south on the M6 for 6 miles, then exit at Junction 20a and head east on the M56 towards Manchester airport. Exit at Junction 6 and follow the sign-posts to the airport.
Alternatively you could continue on the M62 until Junction 12 where it meets the M60. Head south on the M60 for about 10 miles and exit at Junction 4. Head south on the M56 for 4 miles to Junction 6 where the airport is well sign-posted.
From the east: The A628 passes through the Peak District before reaching the M67 and then the M60. Join the M60 at Junction 24 and head South for about 6 miles. Exit at Junction 4 onto the M56. Continue on the M56 for about 4 miles before exiting at Junction 6 for Manchester airport.
The M62 from the east also connects to the M60 at Junction 18, north of Manchester City. Once on the M62, you could either drive through the city centre via the A56 and then the A5103 or continue on the M60 until Junction 4 where you need to join the M56. Once on the M56 continue south for about 4 miles before exiting at Junction 6 for Manchester airport.
