New Minorca flight takes off
A new low-cost service between Newcastle and Mahon on the island of Minorca launched over the weekend.
Low-cost carrier easyJet began operating the flights on Saturday (July 14th) and said that pre-booking figures indicate that over 5,000 people are expected to use the new service over the summer.
The service from Newcastle will operate twice a week and tickets can cost as little as £19.99 one way (including tax).
"The addition of Mahon to our choice of routes from Newcastle Airport has been popular with passengers from the north-east and forward sales have been strong," explained Katie Stitson, easyJet's market manager.
"This is the second new route from Newcastle this year, following the launch of our Krakow flight which began earlier this year."
The Balearic island of Minorca is a popular holiday destination for Brits. The island boasts a warm climate, sunny beaches and some studding historical towns and churches.
