Most romantic locations for Valentines
If youre looking for a last minute flight from your local airport for Valentines Day, the top 10 places in Europe to propose have been revealed.
As Valentines Day approaches, travellers and editors at the travel and holiday advice website TripAdvisor have been nominating the most romantic destinations in Europe to pop the question.
The best place to propose in Europe, according to TripAdvisors findings, is the Eiffel Tower in Paris, perhaps the most romantic city in the world. Go early in the morning to avoid the crowds and pop the question atop the Eiffel Tower after enjoying the beautiful views of Paris, advises one traveller.
High places seem to be popular because at number 2 is the British Airways London Eye. Top advice here to make the most of the romantic moment is to avoid onlookers and book a private capsule complete with champagne.
Completing the top three is a more surprising choice Oia in the beautiful Greek island of Santorini. The caldera in Oia offers breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and stunning sunsets.
Other predictable favourites are the canals of Venice, and the Trevi Fountain in Rome. Venice comes in at number five, and the advice of one romantic traveller is Take a gondola ride and hire a guy to sing. See if he can sing something romantic while you propose.
The Trevi Fountain in Rome, at number eight, may be suitable for those with more exhibitionistic tendencies. A cheering crowd is likely to accompany a successful proposal here.
The rest of the top 10 comprises: the Alhambra in Granada, Spain at number 4; the nineteenth century Bavarian palace Neuschwantein Castle in Germany at number 6; Mount Pilatus near Lucerne in Switzerland, home of the worlds steepest cogwheel railway, at number 7; the Charles Bridge in Prague at number 9; and the Piazza Michelangelo in Florence, Italy at number 10.
