More flights from East Midlands airport
East Midlands airport is having a record year, with passenger numbers to October up 14.4% on last year.
From January to October this year a total of 4,662,987 passengers used East Midlands airport. Passenger numbers rose for the ninth successive month, with October showing an increase of 6.2% on the previous year.
The most popular destination from East Midlands in October was Dublin with more than 26,000 passengers, while Palma in Majorca was also in the top three. International scheduled flights showed the most dramatic rise, up 19.2%, but tour and charter flights were actually down by 10.9%.
bmibaby has announced three new routes from East Midlands airport. Flights to Nice in the south of France will start on 1 April 2008 and operate three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, with prices starting from £24.99 one way inclusive.
Increasing links with Poland are reflected in bmibaby's decision to launch new flights to Warsaw and Gdansk. Flights to Warsaw will depart on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, while those to Gdansk will operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Fares start from £21.99 one way including taxes and charges.
bmibaby is based at East Midlands airport, and will fly to 14 destinations from the airport next summer, including perennial favourites such as Alicante, Faro, Malaga, Palma, Paris and Prague.
East Midlands airport was recently named Airport of the Year at the 2007 World Travel Awards. Gatwick was voted the favourite for leisure travel, while Heathrow was the most popular for business travel.
