[26th May 2008]

Small Luxury Hotels of the World has been named as the number one luxury hotel brand in the world.

In the annual survey of luxury hotels by the Luxury Institute in New York, Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) also won the Best Customer Experience category.

In the luxury brands category SLH was ranked first out of 23 luxury hotel brands. The other brands were Club Med, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Crillon Hotels, Fairmont, Four Seasons, InterContinental, JW Marriott, Le Meridien, Leading Hotels of the World, Loews, Mandarin Oriental, Orient Express, Park Hyatt, Peninsula, Regent, Ritz-Carlton, Rock Resorts, Rosewood, Sofitel, St. Regis, W Hotels and Waldorf Astoria Collection.

SLH was named the luxury hotel brand most worthy of a price premium and the brand that people would be most willing to recommend to someone they care about.

In the Customer Experience category SLH was up against 14 other hotel brands. The hotel group offers a range of ‘experiences’ including cooking tapas with a Michelin starred chef, private tours of ancient Mexican cities, and lessons about the Masai tribes in Kenya.

“To be ranked top in terms of ‘best customer experience’ is a tremendous honour for us as we pride ourselves on our hotels’ ability to deliver the highest level of personalised service and outstanding experiences. A hotel is so much more than somewhere for people to sleep, and our properties are aware of this,” comments SLH CEO, Paul Kerr.

There are now over 440 hotels in 70 countries in the SLH group, including city centre hotels, hotels in the Caribbean, spa hotels, safari lodge hotels, and even hotels on private islands.
