Leeds Bradford gets new Shannon link

Leeds Bradford Airport will get a new link to Shannon in Ireland, Ryanair announced today.

Leeds Bradford Airport will get a new link to Shannon in Ireland, Ryanair announced today.

The low cost airline said the new service would operate three times a week adding to the 19 weekly services between the Yorkshire airport and the Irish capital, Dublin.

Leeds Bradford has seen significant growth in recent years, as Ryanair and other no-thrills airlines have expanded their operations at regional hubs.

"This new service to Shannon is fantastic news and confirms Ryanair's commitment to growth from Leeds Bradford Airport," said Sally Ramsey, marketing and business development manager at Leeds Bradford.

"The addition of Shannon means our passengers now have the choice of six entry points when travelling to Ireland from the heart of Yorkshire."

Ryanair said the new route would bring the total number of its passengers using Leeds Bradford to 300,000 a year.

Low cost carriers have experienced a boom in the last five years, with European travellers showing a huge appetite for cheap, short-haul flights.
